Why Trump called for the firing of a Microsoft executive

Desk Report:

US President Donald Trump has called for the firing of Microsoft’s new president of international relations, Lisa Monaco. Trump made the call in a post on Truth Social last Friday.

In this post, Trump called Monaco “corrupt and completely anti-Trump.” He claimed that Monaco’s position is a threat to national security.

Trump said, “She is a terrible threat to the national security of the United States. Especially when the government has many important contracts with Microsoft.”

He also alleged that Monaco has lost all types of security clearances and has been banned from entering all types of federal facilities.

Trump wrote that due to Monaco’s many illegal activities, the US government has revoked all of her security clearances, revoked her access to national security information, and banned her from all types of federal property.

Finally, Trump made it clear, “I think Microsoft should fire Lisa Monaco immediately.”

Who is Lisa Monaco

Monaco joined Microsoft in July as the company’s global government relations supervisor.

The matter was confirmed on her LinkedIn profile and the news agency Reuters also reported her appointment.

Monaco’s long career has been spent mainly in various high-level positions in the US government. She was the national security adviser under former US President Barack Obama. Later, she played a key role in the Justice Department’s response to the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. She was most recently the deputy attorney general in the Joe Biden administration.

This is also the main reason for Trump’s anger. He claims that Monaco played a significant role in the legal actions taken against him by the Justice Department of the Biden administration. It is unacceptable for him to have a person like Monaco in a high position at a company like Microsoft.

Trump’s attack on Monaco is not new. He has previously spoken out against those who are considered his political opponents in such language. Just a few days ago, former FBI Director James Comey was indicted on charges of defamation and perjury. Trump has indicated that ‘others’ may also be indicted soon.

Since returning to the White House, Trump has already demanded charges against opponents like John Bolton and Adam Schiff. In addition, he has also put pressure on various universities, law firms and the media. Corporate America is no exception.

He has previously called for the resignation of Intel’s CEO, criticized Disney’s ABC network for Jimmy Kimmel’s jokes and interfered in the activities of many other large organizations.

Microsoft has come under renewed pressure over the Monaco issue. Earlier this month, the company’s CEO Satya Nadella attended a dinner with Trump at the White House, a sign of the close ties between the tech sector and the administration.

At the same time, Microsoft has come under fire for its handling of government contracts and international activities. CNBC reported that Microsoft had restricted cloud services to an Israeli military unit.

In this context, Trump’s intervention has put Microsoft in a difficult position. On the one hand, there is business relations with the government, and on the other hand, there is political pressure over the future of former administration officials who are in internal leadership.
