DeskReport
Bangladesh will play a T20 series after five months. Liton Dasara will take the field in the first T20 of the series against the United Arab Emirates in Sharjah today. Despite the long break of the national team, the cricketers have played franchise leagues in between. Almost everyone was in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Nahid Rana and Rishad Hossain are playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Shanto-Soumya have also prepared well in the country. But what will Bangladesh’s XI be like in the first T20 today? Two places in the team are certain. Unless there are injury problems, captain Liton Das and vice-captain Sheikh Mehedi Hasan will be there. Liton is not in good form with the bat, but this will be his first assignment as a full-time captain.
The remaining nine places are up for grabs. However, a right-handed-left-handed combination of Liton, Soumya Sarkar and Tanjid Hasan Tamim can be seen in the top order. Parvez Hossain Emon is also in great form. He also played a blistering innings of 39 runs off 21 balls against the West Indies in his last T20I. If Soumya-Tamim are in the XI, then the team management may not want to keep another left-hander in the top order. Emon was brilliant in the BPL and DPL as well. His case cannot be ruled out either.
