The time before sleep when the angels’ prayers are heard

Desk Report:

Allah Almighty created humans as workers. After a busy day, humans need adequate rest. Night sleep is a wonderful way to relieve fatigue. In Islam, not only sleep is considered rest, but some actions before sleep are mentioned as particularly virtuous. One of these is sleeping after performing ablution at night. This is an important Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him), which contains many benefits.

The greatest virtue of sleeping after performing ablution at night is that the angels of Allah pray for the person who sleeps. The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said, ‘Whoever goes to bed after performing ablution, an angel spends the night in the clothes on his body. Whenever the sleeping person wakes up, the angel says, “O Allah, forgive so-and-so. He has performed ablution and gone to bed.” (Sahih Ibn Hibban)

When an angel directly asks Allah for forgiveness for someone, the chances of it being accepted are very high. Because of this act, the angel himself becomes responsible for the sleeping person. This is a great honor and protection that is given to a Muslim.

In addition, if a person wakes up at night after performing ablution and goes to bed and asks Allah for something good, then Allah grants it to him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “If a Muslim recites dhikr and azkar at night and performs ablution and goes to bed and asks Allah for the good of this world and the hereafter, then He grants it to him.” (Sunan Abu Dawud)

In Islam, cleanliness and purity are considered a part of faith. Performing ablution before sleeping achieves both physical and spiritual purity. During ablution, minor sins are washed away, which helps a Muslim sleep with a peaceful mind. Therefore, developing the habit of performing ablution before sleeping at night is an important practice for a faithful life.
