Desk Report:
Tamim Iqbal in the election for DOHS councilorship
As the time for submitting nomination papers for the BCB councilorship draws nearer, the crowd at the board building is increasing. About 70 percent of the candidates in this election are new faces in three categories. Among them are former board directors and some controversial organizers.
The most talked about name is Tamim Iqbal. Tamim, who is in the discussion as a possible candidate for the BCB president as BNP, has now submitted his nomination papers for Old DOHS. Earlier, Saiful Islam Bhuiyan was the councilor of this club.
Apart from this, representatives of Fortune Barisal from Gulshan Cricket Club, Masuduzzaman from Mohammedan, Monty Dutta from BKSP, Ishtiaq Sadiq from Dhanmondi Sporting, Rafiqul Islam Babu from Indira Road Krira Chakra, Shawkat Aziz Russell from Amber Sporting Club, Aziz Al Kaiser Tito from Partex and Shanian Tanim Naveen from Dhaka Mariners Young have submitted their nomination papers. Former director Hanif Bhuiyan is also trying to return. He has submitted his nomination papers from Dhaka Leopard Club.
Meanwhile, there is confusion about where the councilor nomination of this club will end due to the ownership conflict between the 14 clubs of the third division and the four clubs of the first and second divisions. On the other hand, in the case of Category-1, there is still tension between the BCB and NSC, as well as some councilorship candidates outside the ad hoc committee, regarding the list of councilors nominated by the National Sports Council (NSC) ad hoc committee.
