Rooney’s wife saved him from death, what happened?
Wayne Rooney had a brilliant career. He is considered one of the best footballers in the history of England. He was one of those footballers who was addicted to alcohol. The legendary English footballer was in a state of death. In such a situation, his wife Coleen saved him.
Rooney expressed gratitude to his wife for bringing him back from that terrible time. Manchester United’s top scorer Rio Ferdinand said in the podcast, ‘If it weren’t for Coleen, I would have died. I believe that the things I did in the past were mistakes. I sometimes live a little differently. Coleen has kept me that way for the last 20 years.’
Rooney has sadly recalled how badly alcohol affected him in his playing career. The legendary England forward said, ‘I would go out, enjoy time with friends and spend the night. There came a time when I went too deep. There was a time in my life when I struggled with alcohol. I remember going to training and putting in eye drops and chewing gum. I drank for two days straight. Then I went to training. At the end of the week I scored two goals. I drank for two days straight.’
Rooney began his professional career with Everton in 2002. He joined Manchester United in 2004. He found the net 253 times in a 13-year career for the club. He is the Premier League giants’ top scorer. Rooney married Colin in 2008 while at the club.
