Robbery on Natore highway, goods worth Tk 10 lakh looted
Miscreants have robbed a covered van in Baraigram, Natore and looted goods worth around 10 lakh taka. The incident took place on the Bonpara-Hatikumrul highway in the Sutirpar area of the upazila in the early hours of Sunday (September 14). The driver Mizan Sheikh has filed a written complaint with the police station in this incident.
According to the complaint source, Mizan Sheikh (27), the driver of a covered van of Nurjahar Transport, left for the Natore showroom with goods (TV, fridge, AC, oven, washing machine) from the head office of LG Butterfly Company on Saturday night. Wasim Ali (24) was with him as an assistant. At around 3:30 am, after crossing the Baraigram police station intersection, 5-7 unidentified miscreants tried to stop the covered van with a dump truck. Fearing an accident, the driver entered a local road nearby. After some time, a small pickup van stopped in front of the covered van. The complaint states that the miscreants broke the lock of the covered van and looted the goods inside after threatening to kill the driver and helper. The miscreants quickly fled with goods worth an estimated Tk 10 lakh.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Baraigram Police Station Golam Sarwar Hossain said that a written complaint has been received. The matter will be investigated and legal action will be taken.
