DeskReport
Two days of continuous rain and inundation from upstream India have increased the water level in four rivers of Moulvibazar district. The water level in the Juri river of the district is 45 cm above the danger level. In addition, the water level in the Kushiyara, Manu and Dhalai rivers has increased. If the rain continues, there is a threat of flooding.
Even before the dams of the Manu and Dhalai rivers damaged last year were repaired, there has been a threat of flooding this season. As a result, the common people of the riverside areas are worried.
According to the Srimangal Meteorological Office, the district has received 105 millimeters of rain from Tuesday to Wednesday morning. More rain is likely in the next few days.
Moulvibazar Water Development Board Executive Engineer Khaled Bin Walid said that the water of the Juri River is flowing above the danger level. In addition, the water of the Kushiyara, Manu and Dhalai rivers is flowing well below the danger level. We are keeping a close watch. There is nothing to panic about, the water will decrease when the rain stops.
