Religious festivals will not be allowed to fall victim to political manipulation: Hasnat Abdullah

Desk Report:

National Citizens Party (NCP) Southern Region Chief Organizer Hasnat Abdullah has said that religious festivals will not be allowed to fall prey to political manipulation. He said this in a post on his verified Facebook ID on Monday.

In a post addressed to the countrymen, Hasnat Abdullah said, “The biggest festival of Hindu brothers and sisters has started from Sunday: the festival of Durga Puja. As you know, during the past fascist era, an atmosphere of fear and anxiety was created in our society around this festival. We have seen with sadness that Hindus have been repeatedly made political victims as part of political manipulation. The miscreants sheltered by the ruling party were trying to attack worship places at various places and were playing the hateful game of creating communal division. As a result, the joy of the festival was replaced by the fear of insecurity.

Hasnat Abdullah further said, ‘In this new Bangladesh, born through a mass uprising, we are determined to say goodbye to the politics of communal division and the culture of fear forever. No religious festival will ever be allowed to fall victim to political manipulation.’

In the post, Hasnat Abdullah said, ‘At this moment, I strongly appeal to the government and administration to ensure proper security with utmost importance. Every puja mandap, every house and every Hindu citizen can complete this festival without any hindrance and peace. We will strictly ensure that no past attempts are repeated this time.’

Hasnat Abdullah further said, ‘At the same time, I would like to request all citizens of the country, brothers and sisters of all communities, that each of you should strive to ensure the highest level of cooperation and harmony. Remember, harmony or mutual harmony is our strength. “Let us prove together that the new Bangladesh is a Bangladesh of security, honor, and respect for all religions.”
