Desk Report:
Jamaat’s Central Assistant Secretary General Rafiqul Islam Khan said, “Many say that Professor Muhammad Yunus has entered the pocket of a political party. We do not want to believe it. However, we believe that the people around him are involved in a conspiracy. They are taking this country towards danger. Awami League will not be allowed to be rehabilitated on Bangladeshi soil.”
He said these things while addressing a rally organized as the chief guest at the Andarkilla Shahi Jame Mosque premises in Chittagong city on Friday afternoon.
Rafiqul Islam also said, “Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus had promised the people that he would carry out fundamental reforms to the constitution, prosecute the genocide, bring back money laundered abroad, create a political level playing field and organize the best elections in the world. But we are noticing that under pressure from a certain group or through a conspiracy, the people of this country are being led to the point where they cannot exercise their voting rights.’
The Jamaat leader said, ‘After independence, three parties have ruled the country. One is a fascist party. Another party has disappeared due to excessive brokering. Another party has made Bangladesh the world champion in corruption five times. Since August 5, it has stopped extortion, sand-eating and stone-eating; now it has engaged in a conspiracy to eat the map of Bangladesh.’
In his speech as a special guest, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Chittagong region director Muhammad Shahjahan said that Jamaat-e-Islami will win seats to form the government in the next national parliament elections. Jamaat-e-Islami will be the government party. BNP will have to join the opposition.
In his speech as the president, the city’s acting Amir Muhammad Nazrul Islam said that there are numerous examples in the country when various government decisions have been given a legal basis by issuing provisional orders. Then why is the July Charter not being given a legal basis, this is the question. The July movement must be given a legal basis by issuing a provisional order quickly.
Also present at the rally were Jamaat-e-Islami’s city secretary Muhammad Nurul Amin, organizing secretary Shamsuzzaman Helali, Jamaat’s nominated candidate for Chittagong-11 constituency Shafiul Alam, nominated candidate for Chittagong-8 constituency Abu Naser, and others.
After the rally, a procession circled various roads around the city from Andarkilla.
