North South student beaten by classmates for insulting Quran, rescued by police at midnight

A student was beaten up by other students at North South University in the Bashundhara residential area of ​​Bhatara in the capital on charges of insulting the Quran. The incident took place inside North South University around 2 am on Saturday. The student has been identified as Apurba Chandra (26).

Police rescued the student from the scene after receiving information. He was taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 3:30 am.

Bhatara Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md. Mostafizur Rahman said that a complaint was filed against North South University student Apurba for insulting the Quran. On the night of the incident, other students of the university beat up the student. On receiving the news, the police and police rescued him that night. He was later taken to the hospital.

Mostafizur Rahman added that the police have filed a case against the student. He was sent to court this Sunday morning.

The police official said that the situation at the university is currently normal.
