In the bail hearing of singer Mainul Ahsan Nobel in the rape case filed at the capital’s Demra Police Station, his lawyer claimed in the court that the plaintiff in the case is Nobel’s wife. The bail hearing was held in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ziauddin Ahmed today (Tuesday, May 20).
His lawyer Jasim Uddin applied for bail on behalf of Nobel. In the hearing, he said, “The incident of the case occurred on November 12 last year. And the plaintiff is the wife of the accused. They were in the same house until last night. They filed the case due to a misunderstanding. After Nobel was called to the police station for settlement, he was shown arrested.”
The lawyer said, “The girl is legally his wife, four months pregnant.” How is this rape?”
The lawyer also said, “Nobel wants to have a family with her. We are willing to compromise on any terms.”
At that time, the judge wanted to know if there was a confession. Then the defense lawyer said that the confession was not brought due to haste.
At that time, Metropolitan PP Omar Farooq Farooqi, representing the state, opposed the bail. He said, “According to the case file, this is an allegation of rape.” Later, the court did not grant the bail application and ordered to send him to jail.
