Desk Report:
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Advisor Asif Nazrul said that there is no possibility of lifting the ban on Awami League’s political activities. Rather, steps have already been taken to seek justice from the International Criminal Court against Awami League as an organization.
The legal advisor made these remarks while visiting the Shankar Math Puja Mandap in Barisal city on Wednesday afternoon.
Asif Nazrul also said that whatever the chief advisor said in the media while in the United States about lifting the ban on Awami League politics is theoretical.
The legal advisor said, “We want to live in peace and security with everyone. The wall of discrimination that is being raised here by saying ‘Hills’ and ‘Bengalis’ is not right. We are all citizens of Bangladesh. The law enforcement agencies will take action against those who obstruct this.”
The legal advisor visited the Shankar Math adjacent to the city’s Notun Bazar after reaching the Barisal Circuit House. During this time, he met and exchanged greetings with leaders of the Hindu community.
At this time, Asif Nazrul said, “There will be various conspiracies of evil forces during the celebration of the puja. We are alert about these matters. Durga Puja is being celebrated with joy all over the country. Everyone has equal rights to observe religious ceremonies.”
The legal advisor was accompanied by Barisal Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Delwar Hossain, Member Secretary of the Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Front Limon Shaha Kanu, and senior officials of the administration and law enforcement agencies.
