Desk Report:
BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said that the harassment incident in New York has made the future of the Awami League even more uncertain.
He made this comment in response to a question from reporters after a program at the Mother and Child General Hospital and Medical College in Agrabad, Chittagong city, on Wednesday.
Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said, “After being defeated politically and fleeing, what else do they have to do except these things? That’s what they will do, right? There is nothing else to do.
Amir Khasru said, “When you were defeated and fled the country, your supporters have nothing else to do except these kinds of things for now. They don’t believe in democracy. What they are doing now after destroying the country and fleeing is even more destructive. This is making their future even more uncertain.”
In response to a question, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said, “I am not sure whether there is intelligence failure at the embassy in this incident or not. Security is a matter for that country. I don’t know if the embassy had intelligence or not. They should have known.
It doesn’t matter. Many things can happen in a democratic country. It’s not such a big deal for me. These things happen in all democratic countries. Those who have support can do it. Those who don’t have support can do it too.’
Earlier, in his speech as the chief guest at the event, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury emphasized on improving the quality of healthcare in the country. Syed Mohammad Morshed Hossain, president of the hospital’s executive committee, General Secretary Rezaul Karim and members of the board of directors were present at the time.
