Desk Report:
Inter Miami came back into the match despite falling behind at the start. The Florida club was dreaming of sharing the points. But in the end, Miami lost 5-3 to Chicago in a Major League Soccer (MLS) match in a 3-minute storm. The team’s head coach Javier Mascherano took responsibility for the loss.
Chicago sent the ball into Miami’s net twice in 31 minutes at Chase Stadium. In the 39th minute, Tomas Aviles reduced the gap for the hosts. Four minutes later, the visitors made it 3-1 thanks to Kwame. Luis Suarez became the savior of Miami, who was trailing by 2 goals. The Uruguayan striker equalized the team with goals in the 57th and 74th minutes. Miami managed to maintain the parity until the 79th minute. Justin Pleger put Chicago ahead again in the next minute. Brian Gutierrez hammered the final nail in the Miami net in the 83rd minute.
Lionel Messi could not give his best on the day of the team’s defeat. The Argentine star footballer could not score in two consecutive matches. So he left the field in a depressed mood after the defeat. Miami is in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with 56 points in 31 matches. Chicago is in eighth place with 51 points.
After the match, Mascherano said, “I am fully responsible for this defeat. Our plan did not work in the match. We had some kind of preparation. But the situation in the match was completely different. In the first half, we made changes that worked well for the team. This defeat is a shame for us. I told the players that our method was wrong. We tried to take control in the match. I take full responsibility for this defeat.”
Although he took responsibility on his shoulders, Mascherano also wanted to explain that luck was not on his side that day, “We took a lot of risks. The boys created a lot of opportunities. But we could not finish. “After equalising the match, we tried to come up and play. We were hoping that maybe in the last 20 minutes we would have another chance. Then the opposition team went ahead again. They were lucky. Unfortunately we couldn’t hold on to the 3-3 draw. The situation was not in our favour after conceding the last goal.”
