Mostafa Sarwar Farooqui, advisor to the Ministry of Culture, made a comment on the Peelkhana tragedy on his verified Facebook account. In the status, he mentioned his experience of watching the documentary ‘Peelkhana: Thirty-Six Hours of Betrayal’. In the status, he described the situation at that time. Along with this, the advisor pointed his finger at the then head of government. In his status, Farooqui wrote, ‘When I heard Hasina’s conversation with General Shakeel at the beginning, my heart went cold. I don’t know what a bigger dishonesty could be!’ He wrote, ‘They didn’t send anyone by saying they were sending RAB, helicopters, but instead they organized and pushed 57 officers to certain death.’ He termed this horrific incident as ‘dishonesty’ and questioned whether the Prime Minister’s ‘pathological hatred’ towards the army was behind it.
Farooqi further commented in this status, ‘Seeing this, I think that whoever becomes the Head of the Government in the future, a mental health check should be mandatory.’
A documentary series is being produced by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs on the BDR massacre in Peelkhana on February 25 and 26, 2009. As part of this, a documentary titled ‘Thirty-Six Hours of Betrayal’, made on the Peelkhana massacre, was released yesterday, Monday.
