Medical admission test on December 12

The admission test for Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) courses in government and private medical colleges for the 2025-26 academic year will be held on December 12. The matter was finalized in a meeting held at the Ministry of Health Education and Family Welfare today, Monday.

The matter was confirmed by Professor Rubina Yasmin, Additional Director General (Medical Education) of the Directorate of Health Education. She said that preparations for the admission test are already underway. She mentioned the National Parliament elections in February 2026 and the month of Ramadan as the reasons for bringing forward the date of the MBBS exam.

Present at the meeting were Health Advisor Nurjahan Begum, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor Professor Md. Sayedur Rahman, Director General of the Directorate of Health Education Professor Nazmul Hossain, President of the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) Professor Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, Joint Secretary of the Health Education and Family Welfare Department Mallika Khatun, Director (Medical Education) of the Directorate of Health Education Professor Mohiuddin Matubbar, among others.

According to the information of the Directorate of Health Education, there are 5,380 seats in 37 government medical colleges and 6,293 seats in 67 approved private medical colleges. There are a total of 110 medical colleges in the country. In addition, there is one Armed Forces Medical College and five private Army Medical Colleges.

It is worth noting that the MBBS admission test for the academic year 2024-25 was held on January 17 last year. This time the test is being held more than a month earlier than that.
