Lamborghini-style speedboat on the Brahmaputra River

Desk Report:

A schoolboy from Fulchhari upazila of Gaibandha has built a speedboat modeled after a Lamborghini. This speedboat, built by 17-year-old Rahad Khandaker, is now plying on the Brahmaputra River. It has received a huge response in the area.

This boat, modeled after the Italian luxury car manufacturer Lamborghini, can seat five people at a time. The car has a wooden steering wheel, meter, lighting and horn switch in front. Pictures have been painted in place of the wheels. It takes two liters of oil to run per hour.

Rahad is the son of farmer Shafiqul Islam and housewife Rupali Begum from Ratanpur village of Oriya union in Fulchhari upazila. He is a class 10 student of the science department of the local Gunbhari Dwimukhi High School. Rahad, who has been interested in making machinery since childhood, has previously made a paddy harvesting machine and a robot.

The Lamborghini speedboat cost about 5 lakh taka to build. The family took a loan of 3 lakh taka. The rest of the money came from the help of relatives. The work started with five thousand taka given by his grandmother. This speedboat was made after 9 months of effort.

Rahad says, ‘I had a tendency to make machinery since I was little. This time I wanted to do something big. So I made a speedboat in the style of a Lamborghini. If I get government or private sponsorship, I can also make a car of my own design.’

Every day, people come from far and wide to see the speedboat made by Rahad. A visitor named Shakil Ahmed, who came to the river, said, ‘It is really a great initiative to make a boat in the style of a Lamborghini. It feels good to ride it.’

Rahad’s mother Rupali Begum said, ‘He has been busy with these things since he was young. Even though he is studying, he is more interested in science and machinery. We have never stopped him. That is our hope that his creations should be known all over the world.’ The villagers are also proud of Rahad’s success. Their hope is that this talent will one day shine on the world stage.
