Desk Report:
The BCB election heat is increasing due to allegations and counter-allegations. According to the revised schedule, about 30 objections were submitted to the Election Commission yesterday. There were objections against Tamim Iqbal’s councilship as well. Tamim came to the BCB today to participate in the appeal hearing.
Tamim has already announced the BCB election. He is entering the fight with all his might. However, he claims that a party is trying to corrupt the BCB election. He will not suffer any harm if he loses the election, but the dirty work must be stopped.
Tamim told reporters, “We elect properly, whether we lose, who is the president or not, it doesn’t matter. But don’t do this dirty work for your ego or to win. The emotions of 180 million people in cricket are involved here. So I humbly request you not to do this dirty work.”
The commission has excluded representatives of 15 clubs in Category 2 from the draft voter list. Tamim Iqbal is the vice-president of Gulshan Cricket Club, a Premier Division Cricket League club. Tamim applied for the councilship nomination of this club yesterday. Regarding the reason for coming to the BCB, he said, “You know that there was an issue with 15 clubs. I am the vice-president of one of those 15 clubs. That is why I came. I told them clearly that the bigger issue here than the 15 clubs is that the decision you are going to take, you have to keep 300 cricketers in mind.” Tamim also said, “These 15 clubs play cricket regularly. They play cricket in different divisions. They pay each player in different divisions. But that money is 70 to 80 percent of the players’ income in a year. It is not just the players who are being talked about. At the same time, the family members of the players are also involved. So you have to keep this in mind before you make any decision.”
