Desk Report:
Gaza witnessed another bloody day of Israeli aggression. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) carried out a brutal overnight assault on Gaza City, the largest city in the besieged Gaza Strip. They killed more than 50 Palestinians across the Strip on Saturday. In addition, the Palestinian Civil Defense reported that nearly 6,000 Palestinians were newly displaced yesterday alone.
According to a report by Qatari media outlet Al-Jazeera, the Gaza Health Ministry said that 62 Palestinians lost their lives in Israeli attacks across the Strip on Saturday, 49 of whom were residents of Gaza City. Although Israel claims that it is not targeting any civilians, international media reports say that Israel is mainly targeting UN-run schools that are being used as shelters.
Palestinian Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Bassal said, “Gaza City residents are living an extremely difficult life due to the continuous bombing and siege.”
Al Jazeera correspondent Hani Mahmoud said that the Israeli army is dropping bombs on the city from fighter jets every 10 to 15 minutes. According to information provided by Hani Mahmoud, the Israeli army gave warning leaflets before the bombing began on Saturday. However, they were not given enough time to move to a safe distance.
Hani Mahmoud said, “Observing the pattern and movement of the Israeli attacks, it is understood that they want to put extreme pressure on people living in densely populated areas.” He added that many people who went to Al-Mawasi, an Israeli-declared “safe area,” have been forced to return. Because there is so much crowding there that it is no longer possible to accommodate them. Therefore, they are staying in Gaza City, fearing that they will lose their lives in the bombing.
According to a post by the Israeli military on social media, around 250,000 people have fled Gaza City since the start of the new Israeli operation.
Meanwhile, seven more people, including children, have died of malnutrition in the past 24 hours. This brings the total number of Palestinian deaths due to malnutrition to 420, including 145 children.
