I have confidence to play in the final, I have crossed a step: Saif

Desk Report:

Saif Hasan did not play a big innings despite giving a chance to do something good in place of Parvez Hossain Emon against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi. However, he gave a great start in that match in the opening partnership with Tanjid Hasan Tamim, which later made the difference in the match.

Saif is even brighter at the Dubai International Stadium yesterday; the young opener brought up his second fifty in international T20s. Since there was a fifty in the 2023 Asiad, it is recognized as an international fifty. However, he literally made his first fifty for the national team yesterday. That too against Sri Lanka in the Super Four. Some of the Sri Lankan journalists present in the Dubai press box were quite surprised to hear that Sri Lanka is Saif’s ancestral home. It took a lot of time for opener Saif, who played age-based cricket with Mehedi Hasan Miraj, to identify himself. His flick-lofted drive not only spread fascination, but also put Bangladesh on the road to victory.

He was named man of the match and told the press conference that he has not yet visited Sri Lanka. He is very happy to have contributed to the team, ‘Nothing like that, I have not visited that side of the family yet. I have contributed to the team. I hope I can contribute more in the future.’

Explaining how he formed a partnership with Liton Das after defeating fast opener Tanjid Tamim, Saif said, ‘After the wicket fell, our plan was to attack every ball. We handled their spinners well. Liton Da understood what the next ball would be like. That’s what he was telling me. We succeeded, Alhamdulillah.’

Saif emphasized that Bangladesh, which started the Super Four by defeating Sri Lanka, has its eyes on the final, ‘Before coming here, everyone believed that we would play the final. We have passed one step. There are two more matches ahead. Now all the attention is on the next match.
