The government has formed a committee to examine the validity of the professional demands of BSC and diploma degree holders in engineering and formulate recommendations. The Cabinet Division issued a notification in this regard on Wednesday amid three consecutive protests by engineering students.
The eight-member committee will have Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan, advisor to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, as the president, and Kazi Muhammad Mozammel Haque, additional secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration, as the member secretary.
The other members of the committee are: Adilur Rahman Khan, advisor to the Ministry of Industries and the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar, advisor to the Ministry of Education, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Engineer Mohammad Rezaul Islam, president of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, and Engineer Md. Kabir Hossain and Engineer Tanvir Manjur, Chairman of the Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education, Bangladesh.
The notification further states that this committee has been asked to submit a report with recommendations to the government within one month. If necessary, new members can be included in the committee. The Ministry of Public Administration will provide secretarial support to the committee in preparing this report.
The committee will examine the reasonableness of the professional demands of B.Sc. degree and diploma holders in engineering profession and submit a report with recommendations to the government within one month.
