A hydraulic chamber explosion occurred at an iron depot in Sagarika area of ​​Chittagong city. At least eight people were rescued and admitted to CHMEC Hospital with burns.

The explosion occurred at an iron depot located on Sagarika Road under Pahartali police station in the city around 8 pm on Saturday (September 27).

The injured in the explosion are Abdul Kader (60), Abul Kashem (60), Md. Karim (29), Abdul Jalil (55), Abul Bashar Khan (60), Jamal Hossain (38), Md. Russell (28) and Bahar Uddin (45).

Police said the injured are residents of various districts including Chittagong.

Nurul Alam Ashek, in-charge of CHMEC Hospital police outpost, confirmed the matter. He told First Bangla that eight people were brought to the hospital with injuries in a hydraulic explosion at an iron depot on Sagarika Road and the doctor on duty admitted them to the burn unit.

It is known that the depot usually stores various iron parts for the shipbreaking industry. There are several iron depots in the Sitakunda area, including Sagarika in Chittagong, where iron raw materials, especially iron for the shipbreaking industry, are stored.
