Even if we can’t get a bullet train for development, we will launch an express train in 5 years: Jamaat Amir

Desk Report:

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, ‘We want to change this rotten Bangladesh. We believe that we cannot launch a bullet train of development in five years, but we can launch an express train.’

He said this at the annual council session of the Forum of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (FDEB) at the Institute of Diploma Engineers (IDEB) auditorium in Kakrail in the capital on Saturday.

The Jamaat Ameer said, ‘Our education system is neither moral nor material. It is not even close to any standard. In this education system, people’s talent is wasted. Time is wasted. Money is wasted. By investing this time, this money, this talent, our beloved country could have produced more developed golden people. But that plan is not there either. Why is there a brother? The children of those who are in charge of this plan do not study in this country. If their children were educated in this country, then public welfare, practical, pragmatic plans and schemes would come out of their heads. They have no compassion for the nation.’

This Jamaat leader highlighted three basic commitments to change the existing education system if he wins the upcoming national elections.

He said, ‘The first commitment is that we will not maintain this broken education system. We will not provide education that creates immorality among people and corrupts them. We will provide our children with education that teaches them to respect and give dignity to every person.

‘This education will also include the highest academic excellence. There will be a great union of moral and academic education. After completing their education, a boy or girl will get a job according to their qualifications. They will not be unemployed. No young man or woman will be out of work.’

Shafiqur Rahman said, ‘The second pledge is that no one’s status will be determined in this welfare state based on degrees alone. Status will be determined based on their work. Those who will make this society proud will be honored. And our third pledge is that we will break the yoke of corruption. Whoever gets what they deserve will act honorably.’

At that time, he said to the media workers, ‘We will clearly call white people white, and call black people black. If that black person is me, I will not be spared either. If we come to power, we will give journalists the opportunity to develop their courage – even if it goes against us.’
