Salt scored a century in 39 balls on the way to playing an innings of 141 runs. This is the record for the fastest hundred runs by an Englishman in T20Is. The previous record was held by Liam Livingstone. He scored a century in 42 balls.

Jos Buttler did not fall short on Salt’s record-breaking batting day. He played an innings of 83 runs in 30 balls. Harry Brook remained unbeaten on 41 runs off 21 balls. In addition, Jacob Bethell scored 26 runs off 14 balls.

In reply, South Africa folded for 158 runs. Aiden Markram top-scored with 41 runs. Bjorn Fortune contributed 32 runs. Tristan Stubbs and Donovan Ferreira each scored 23 runs.
