On Monday, Awami League and Jubo League leaders and activists harassed Akhtar Hossain, a member secretary of Dr. Yunus’ delegation, by throwing eggs at him.
The incident took place when an Emirates flight carrying the chief advisor and his entourage arrived at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. As they were leaving the airport, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP Acting Chairman’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Humayun Kabir, NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain and NCP Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr. Tasnim Zara were surrounded by Awami League workers who started shouting slogans.
At that time, the press wing of the chief advisor and some BNP workers tried to escort them out with security. At that moment, eggs were thrown at Akhtar Hossain. In addition, Tasnim Zara was also abused in obscene language. In protest, Akhtar raised the slogan ‘Inqilab Zindabad’. Later, they left the airport area in a car with the help of the police.
Later, Jubo League leader Mizanur Rahman was arrested based on the complaint of a BNP worker. The BNP worker alleged that the Jubo League leader tried to stab him at the airport.
