Desk Report:
The Israeli invasion of the Palestinian enclave of Gaza has been ongoing since October 2023. In that sense, the occupying country has been waging a massacre in the region for almost two years. During this time, about 65,000 Palestinians have been killed so far in Israel’s genocidal war in the Gaza Strip. More than 150,000 have been injured.
At least 64,803 people have been killed in Gaza since October 7, 2023, as of Saturday evening, Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency reported, citing the Gaza Health Ministry. The Gaza Health Ministry also said that seven more people died of starvation.
The ministry’s statement said that 47 bodies have been brought to hospitals in the last 24 hours. Another 205 people have been injured. With this, the total number of injured in the Israeli attack has reached 164,264. The statement also said that many people are still lying in the rubble and on the roads. Rescue workers have not been able to reach them, so it is not possible to extract them.
The Health Ministry said that five more Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces during the last 24 hours while collecting humanitarian aid. At least 26 others have been injured. This brings the number of Palestinians killed while receiving aid since the controversial ‘Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’ started its operation on May 27 to 2,484. At least 18,117 have been injured.
Seven more Palestinians, including two children, have died of malnutrition and starvation in the last 24 hours. As a result, the number of deaths from starvation and famine since October 2023 has reached 420. 145 of them are children. Since March 2, Israel has completely closed all borders with Gaza. This has further increased the suffering of the Palestinians.
The UN-backed hunger monitoring agency, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), said that famine officially began in northern Gaza in mid-August this year. By the end of September, the famine will spread to Deir al-Balah and Khan Yunis.
