Police have arrested four people after a flash procession led by the former president of the banned Chhatra League’s Chawkbazar ward in Chittagong city. They were arrested from various areas including Hamzarbagh under Panchlaish police station in the city on Saturday.

Police have named microbus driver Md. Abu Musa and the driver’s assistant Md. Sakik among the arrested people, but could not identify the other two.

Earlier, a flash procession by the banned Chhatra League took place in the Sangeet Mor area of ​​Hamzarbagh early on Saturday. A video of the procession went viral on social media.

The video shows that Saddam Hossain Ivan, the former president of the banned organization’s Chawkbazar ward number 16, led a procession with banners.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Panchlaish police station Md. Solaiman told Ajker Patrika that a case has been filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act for the crime of holding a procession with various slogans with the intention of conspiring against the state and government. The four arrested have been sent to jail on the pretext of arrest in the case.

Solaiman said that the arrested driver told the preliminary interrogation that they had rented a Hiace car from Chakaria to Chittagong to join the Chhatra League procession. They were supposed to take pictures after the procession and then return to Chakaria.
