Businessman files case for embezzlement of Rs 16 crore by threatening DB Harun

Desk Report:

A case has been filed in Jessore court against a person named Azizul Haque for allegedly trying to embezzle Tk 16 crore from a dragon fruit trader. The victim Shahinuzzaman filed the case as the plaintiff on Sunday. Senior Judicial Magistrate Barnali Rani ordered the OC of Jhikargachha Police Station to accept the complaint as a statement.

Court inspector Roksana Khatun confirmed the authenticity of this information.

Accused Azizul is the son of Sirajul Haque of Ghorakanda area of Bhairab Police Station, Kishoreganj and a resident of Mirpur Pallabi area of Dhaka. And the plaintiff Shahinuzzaman is the son of Nazim Uddin of Kotpara, Jibannagar, Chuadanga and a member of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce.

According to the allegations in the case, Shahinuzzaman met Azizul as a fruit buyer in 2022. During his business with Azizul, Shahinuzzaman bought 6 reconditioned microbuses for 25 million taka between December 2022 and January 2023 and registered them in his own name. However, on August 8, 2023, Azizul took back the two microbuses.

At that time, when Azizul asked for 15.65 million taka for selling dragon fruit, he threatened the then DB chief Harun or Rashid. Failing to collect the money, Shahinuzzaman filed a case in the Chuadanga court. To avoid this case, Azizul Haque served a notice to Shahinuzzaman on September 7. It stated that the cars purchased by Shahinuzzaman were forged and used for rent.

In this incident, on September 12, when Azizul Haque asked for the money for selling the fruit at the arbitration at the BM High School ground in Jhikargachha, he showed the fake contract for renting the cars he sold. Shahinuzzaman filed a case in court today on charges of fraud after failing to resolve the matter.

In this regard, plaintiff’s lawyer Ruhin Baluj told Ajker Patrika that the plaintiff was cheated by changing the name of then DB chief Harun-ur-Rashid. Now, the plaintiff has approached the court demanding justice.
