Desk Report:
Lisa Catalano, 42, from San Francisco, USA, has taken a new path after failing to find a suitable partner on a dating app. Unable to find a suitable partner, she has created her own website, ‘Marilissa.com’. On this website, men can apply directly to marry her.
Not only that, Lisa has hung billboards along busy roads in the city to promote her website, and has even put stickers with the website’s address on taxis. Her comment on this is, ‘The man who will get along with me, let him find me.’
Lisa said that the matter started as a joke. One day, as she was getting frustrated with dating apps, she started making a website as a joke. But over time, it became a real project. Her family and friends initially thought it was crazy, but later gradually started supporting it.
On Sunday, US-based The People reported that Lisa chose billboards to promote the website. In her words, “What’s the point of having a website if no one sees it?” So she has put up her picture and website address on several digital billboards along Highway 101 from Santa Clara to South San Francisco. The simple design, “Marilissa.com” written in yellow letters on a black background, is as eye-catching as it is eye-catching.
To apply for the website, men must provide information about their educational qualifications, profession, lifestyle, hobbies, and even political and religious views. Lisa said she wants someone who is loyal, committed to a relationship, and interested in starting a family. She prefers someone between the ages of 35 and 45. However, she has received about 1,800 applications so far from people between the ages of 19 and 78.
Social reactions to her initiative have also been mixed. Some call it “brave and inspiring,” while others criticize it as “too much stunt work.” However, Lisa sees it as a manifestation of personal strength. She says, ‘I get a lot of hate, but I also get a lot of love.’
Lisa also has a painful chapter in her life. Once her engagement was completed, but in 2023 her future husband died of a terminal illness. After that, she started looking for a husband anew.
All in all, the message hanging on the billboard has now become a symbol of her life. It reads, ‘The one who is right for me may also be looking for me somewhere; maybe his application has already reached my inbox.’
