665 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country in the past day. At the same time, a 13-year-old boy has died. He was undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
This information was given in a notification sent by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Tuesday (September 16). In the notification, the Directorate General of Health Services gave information for 24 hours from 8 am on Monday (September 15) to 8 am on Tuesday.
The Directorate General of Health Services said that of the patients admitted in the last 24 hours, 224 are from the two city corporation areas of Dhaka, 125 are outside Dhaka division, 19 are in Mymensingh (excluding City Corporation), 79 are in Chittagong (excluding City Corporation), 67 are in Khulna (excluding City Corporation), 14 are in Rangpur (excluding City Corporation), 135 are in Barisal (excluding City Corporation) and 2 are in Sylhet (excluding City Corporation).
Currently, 1,856 patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals in the country, of which 711 are in the capital and 1,145 are in other hospitals in the country.
According to government data, the highest number of patients were admitted to hospitals in July this year, a total of 10,684. Earlier, 1,161 were admitted in January, 374 in February, 336 in March, 701 in April, 1,773 in May, 5,951 in June, 10,496 in August and 7,716 as of September 16.
On the other hand, this year, the highest number of dengue deaths was 41 in July. Apart from this, 10 people died in January, three in February, seven in April, three in May, 19 in June and 39 in August. 34 people have died as of September 16. No patients died in March.
It is worth noting that the highest number of patients were admitted in a year in 2023; 321,179 people. Previously, 1 lakh 1 thousand 211 patients were admitted in 2024, 62 thousand 382 in 2022, 28 thousand 429 in 2021, 1 thousand 405 in 2020, and 1 lakh 1 thousand 354 patients in 2019.
