Sports Reports:
Bangladesh will fly to the United Arab Emirates on Sunday to play in the Asia Cup. Bangladesh has participated in the Asia Cup 13 times since 1986. Their best success in the ODI and T20 editions combined is being the runner-up in the 2012, 2016 and 2018 Asia Cups. Taskin Ahmed, who has been a golden deer, is dreaming of winning the Asia title this time.
Taskin attended the inauguration of a shopping mall in the capital this afternoon. While talking to reporters there, the national team pacer spoke about his dream, saying, ‘T20 is a game of uncertainty. In this format, many small teams defeat many big teams in the World Cup or other big events. In this format, the pace and nature of the game can change in just one over. We have played the final in the past. All that remains is to become the champion. This too will happen, God willing.’
Taskin’s belief is based on the team’s continuous improvement. Reminding him of winning several consecutive T20 series, he said, “We have won the last three series in a row by the grace of God. This will give us a lot of confidence. Look, a few months ago I said in an interview that we lost some matches because we were going through a transition period. But now we are in good form. In practice, all of us, the coaching staff, are working hard. Overall, we are moving forward. If this continues, I hope something good will happen.” Taskin also said that that ‘something good’ is becoming a champion, “We are not going just to participate, our goal is to become a champion.”
