The Jatiya Party’s central office has been attacked, vandalized and set on fire again. The attack and vandalism was carried out by leaders and activists of the People’s Rights Council in Kakrail, the capital, shortly after 7 pm on Friday. At that time, they set fire to the inside of the office.

Rezaul Islam Bhuiyan, a presidium member of a faction of the Jatiya Party, told Ajker Patrika, “The leaders and activists of the People’s Rights Council came with a procession and set fire to our party office. This is undemocratic. Mob politics is going on.”

The party’s leaders and activists held a solidarity rally in front of the National Museum in Shahbagh, demanding three points, including the resignation of the Home Affairs Advisor, taking responsibility for the attack on the law enforcement agency on Gana Adhikar President Nurul Haque Nur. Later, they headed towards their central office in Paltan. After that, the Jatiya Party office was attacked and set on fire.

The angry leaders and activists entered the office and vandalized it and set fire to various rooms. Later, when the police arrived, the situation became heated. To control the situation, the police fired water cannons and sound grenades. The agitated crowd became more reckless. The police slowly removed the protesters from the JPA office and took up positions there.

As of the latest reports, the police have dispersed the protesters by hurling sound grenades. The protesters are now stationed on the main road of Vijay Nagar.

It is worth noting that the same office was vandalized and arsoned multiple times in the last week of August.
