‘Many of the advisors have already made liaisons with various political parties, they are thinking about their safe exit’ — Sarjis Alam, the party’s chief organizer (northern region), wants to see the end of their character, about whom National Citizens Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam made such comments. He told reporters at the Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce Bhaban auditorium at 5:30 pm today, Monday.
Sarjis said, ‘Our convener has said about them. We want to see the end of their character. Because, the way they were supposed to reform each and every one of them by embracing the revolution, the way they were supposed to make decisions, the misdeeds against which people took to the streets, when they come to the fore again, they will have to take responsibility for it. If we had been given a role in law and order, justice, politics, bureaucracy — in all areas from their place, we would not have seen this situation.’
Sarjis said, the biggest problem was at the beginning. If there were a thousand culprits in various forces, starting from the civil service to the administration and police, who worked as party forces in post-coup Bangladesh, this situation would not have been seen if they had been tried. They (the advisors) failed in that August-September.
Sarjis Alam said, ‘Those of us who are advisors may be thinking that now we need to take a tough decision again, that is not possible. For this reason, they may be thinking how they can go through an election with self-respect. But they should not think that way. If they want to leave like this after such a big coup, they will no longer find shelter from the people of Bangladesh. It is also an honor to do something for the people of the country and suffer losses rather than leaving quietly like this. We request that they embrace the coup and fulfill their responsibilities properly.’
Earlier, Sarjis attended the coordination meeting of the district and metropolitan committees of the Jatiya Nagorik Party as the chief guest. At the beginning, he discussed various internal issues of the party with the district leaders. Then he gave a speech giving directions on party activities, future politics, crisis and possibilities. Then he held a meeting with the leaders of the metropolitan committee.
NCP Rajshahi Divisional Organizing Secretary Imran Emon, Metropolitan Chief Coordinator Mobasher Ali and others were present at the meeting.
