Chief Advisor mourns death of world-renowned zoologist Dr. Jane Goodall

World-renowned zoologist, primatologist, anthropologist and environmental conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Principal Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

In a condolence message today, Thursday, the Principal Advisor said, “I am deeply saddened by the death of my dear friend Dr. Jane Goodall. She was a world-renowned zoologist, primatologist, anthropologist and environmental conservationist.”

The Principal Advisor said that as a tireless activist until the last day of her life, Jane dedicated herself to peace, sustainable development, justice and the interrelationship of all life on earth.

He also said, “Nature has lost one of its greatest voices today. This loss has created deep pain in our hearts. Today, I respectfully remember her outstanding achievements and contributions, which will have a lasting impact long after her earthly life ends.

A long-time friend of Bangladesh, Jane came to this country in the 1990s and expressed a deep interest in Grameen Bank’s women’s empowerment program and applied those principles in her work in various parts of the world, including Africa.

The Chief Advisor recalled, “She was a close friend of our country. Jane has always inspired me and appreciated our work. She even spoke on this topic at the recent Social Business Day conference held in June 2025.”

Professor Yunus said, “I will be forever grateful for her support and inspiration. She has inspired not only me, but millions of people around the world.”

He added, “May your soul rest in peace, Jane. The world will miss you deeply.”
