Nepal crushes West Indies to win historic series
This is the first time Nepal is playing a T20 series against a Test-playing team. And history was made in the first series. They won the series against the two-time World T20 champions West Indies with one match to spare. They are also close to a whitewash.
Nepal won the second T20 by a landslide of 90 runs in Sharjah yesterday. Batting first after winning the toss, they scored 173 runs for 6 wickets. Asif Sheikh and Sandeep Zara scored fifties. Asif remained unbeaten on 68 runs off 47 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes. Zara scored 63 runs off 39 balls with 3 fours and 5 sixes.
Chasing, West Indies came under pressure from the start. After losing two wickets for 16 runs in the powerplay, they lost four wickets before the end of ten overs. After that, the team could not turn around.
Nepal’s bowlers showed their dominance. Mohammad Adil Alam took 4 wickets for 24 runs, while Kushal Bhurtel took 3 wickets for just 16 runs. In the end, West Indies were all out for 83 runs with 17 balls to spare.
Apart from Jason Holder’s 21 runs, no notable innings came from the Caribbean batsmen.
Earlier, Nepal won the first T20I by 19 runs. They will be aiming to whitewash the Caribbeans in the final T20I today at the same venue.
