Desk Report:
I couldn’t play for Bangladesh anymore because of him: Shakib
Shakib Al Hasan wanted to retire from Tests with a match against South Africa in Dhaka in October last year at home. He was also included in the squad for that match. But he could not return to the country. He still has that regret. The all-rounder is indirectly blaming Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan for this.
While cricket fans are immersed in the India-Pakistan Maharan in Dubai, Shakib and Asif’s reactions were seen on social media. After Shakib posted a post today, the Youth and Sports Advisor wrote on his personal Facebook page, ‘You have abused me a thousand times for not rehabilitating one person. But I was right. The discussion ends here.’
Right after that, Shakib wrote on his official page, ‘Let someone finally admit that I was not given the Bangladesh jersey anymore because of him, I could not play for Bangladesh! I may return to my homeland someday, I love Bangladesh.’
Shakib is currently playing domestic T20s in various countries. He played in the CPL a few days ago. His last match for Bangladesh was against India in October last year.
