Chittagong Hill Tracts Advisor Supradeep Chakma said that criminals will not be spared in any way. Legal action will be taken against rapists, women torturers, armed men and extortionists.
He said these things at a view-sharing meeting organized at the Khagrachari District Commissioner’s conference room on Sunday. Supradeep Chakma said that the administration and public representatives must take effective measures so that no communal conflict arises in the Chittagong Hill Tracts in the future. The real culprits must be brought under the law.
Supradeep Chakma said, ‘The safety of teachers and students must be ensured. Guardians must raise their children and society on the right path. Guardians can play the most important role in shaping the future of their children.’
The advisor also said, ‘All Bengali and hill communities must work together. We want to be non-communal. The environment of the Chittagong Hill Tracts must be kept beautiful. The advisor called for everyone’s cooperation to complete the upcoming Durga Puja and Probarana Purnima smoothly.
The meeting was presided over by Deputy Commissioner ABM Iftekharul Islam Khandaker, and was attended by Advisor’s Private Secretary (Deputy Secretary) Khandaker Mushfiqur Rahman, Sadar Zone Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md. Khademul Islam, Police Superintendent Arefin Jewel, Zilla Parishad Chairman Shefalika Tripura, among others.
Local representatives condemned the incident that took place in Mahajanpara in Khagrachhari town and demanded exemplary punishment by identifying the culprits. Tensions have been created in Khagrachhari recently over the rape of a student. This meeting was organized in view of that situation.
