Hajj costs are decreasing, minimum package is 467,000

The cost of performing the holy Hajj from Bangladesh next year (2026) is decreasing slightly. The proposed price of the lowest package for Hajj next year has been set at 4 lakh 67 thousand taka. The airfare is also decreasing by about 13 thousand taka compared to the previous year. The amount of health insurance is increasing.

This information has been revealed by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. It is known that next year’s Hajj packages and guidelines will be announced at the Secretariat on Sunday afternoon.

Ministry sources said that the government is announcing three Hajj packages for next year. The first package is within 700 meters of the Holy Mosque, the proposed price of this package is 6 lakh 90 thousand taka. The second package is within 1.7 kilometers of the Holy Mosque, the proposed price is 5 lakh 58 thousand taka. The third package is in the Azizia area, the proposed price is 4 lakh 67 thousand taka. One package will be determined by the government. The other two packages will be determined by the authorized Hajj agencies.

The Ministry of Religion sources also said that the airfare per person for Hajj next year will cost 154,830 taka, which was 167,820 taka this year. However, this year the health insurance for Hajj pilgrims was 21 Saudi riyals per person, which will increase to 150 Saudi riyals next year.

Today at 5 pm, the advisor to the Ministry of Religion of the interim government, AFM Khalid Hossain, will meet with Hajj agency owners and concerned parties at the secretariat and announce next year’s Hajj package. To reduce the airfare, the advisors of the Ministry of Religion and the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism have met in stages to determine the fare.

According to the Ministry of Religion sources, the initial registration of those interested in performing Hajj next year began on July 27. The initial registration will end on October 12. The Ministry of Religion has issued a notification for initial registration by depositing 350,000 taka. As of Saturday evening, 954 people have pre-registered to go to Hajj under government management and 1,135 people have pre-registered under private management. A total of 127,198 Bangladeshis will be able to go to Saudi Arabia to perform the holy Hajj under government and private management next year.

Hajj Association of Bangladesh (HAB) Secretary General Farid Ahmed Majumder told Fast Bangla that during the previous government’s tenure, airfares were set irrationally. Due to this, the cost of Hajj increased a lot. The government has been requested to keep airfares at a reasonable level next year. He believes that if airfares are reduced, the common people will also prepare to go to Hajj.

In 2025, the price of the government-managed package (house within 3 kilometers of the Masjidul Haram) was 478,242 taka, and the price of the other package (house within 1.5 kilometers of the Masjidul Haram) was 575,680 taka.
