Chhatra League procession in front of Police Commissioner’s office in Chittagong

The banned organization Chhatra League held a quick procession with a banner in front of the Police Commissioner’s office in Chittagong city. Leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliate organizations were also present at the time.

This quick procession was held in front of the Police Lines and CMP offices in Dampara in the city at around 10:30 am on Wednesday.

A 48-second video of the procession was later shared on various social media platforms including the Awami League’s Facebook page.

Eyewitnesses to the incident said that 20 to 25 people gathered at the entrance of MM Ali Road adjacent to the Shilpakala Academy in the city with a banner and took out a protest procession.

When the procession passed the Police Commissioner’s office in Dampara and reached the bus stand adjacent to Garibullah Shah Mazar, it dispersed after seeing a police car.

The banners they held read: ‘Take down Yunus, save the country’, ‘Trust in Sheikh Hasina’, ‘Sheikh Hasina will return, victory will come’.

When asked, Khulshi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shaheen said that a drive is underway to arrest those involved in the procession.

It is learned that a sub-inspector in charge of the police patrol team in the area has been dismissed after the procession incident.
