Rajkumar Rao is not sparing any effort for the Sourav Ganguly biopic. Sushant Singh Rajput trained for about a year and a half to become the screen Dhoni, spent time with MS Dhoni. Ranveer Singh stayed at his house for ten days to portray the character of Kapil Dev on screen.
Rajkumar Rao is going to follow the same formula. Rajkumar will stay with Sourav Ganguly for a month, so that he can know and understand him closely.
The shooting of the biopic was supposed to start last July. But Rajkumar needs more preparation to play the role of Sourav. Especially, more practice is needed to master left-handed batting. So the shooting has been postponed to next year.
It is learned that Rajkumar Rao will go to Kolkata in October after Puja. He will stay with Sourav Ganguly for a month. It is very important to give this time to know the ins and outs of Sourav’s personality. Rajkumar will closely observe his daily activities to portray Sourav on screen. You will visit places related to Sourav’s career with him.
Sourav’s biopic is being directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. He has already reached Kolkata with his team. He has also visited Eden Gardens, Maidan and Dukhiram Coaching Center, where Sourav started his cricket career. On Wednesday, during a break from Reiki, director Vikramaditya went to Sourav’s house with his team and met him.
It is learned that the shooting of this biopic with a budget of Rs 250 crore will begin in February next year. The camera will open in Kolkata. The movie is scheduled to be released before the World Cup in 2027.
