Desk Report:
President of the People’s Rights Council, Nurul Haque Nur, has gone to Singapore for better treatment. He left Dhaka on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at 8:25 am today, Monday.
His team has informed that he will receive treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.
Associate Professor of the Orthopedic and Spine Surgery Department of Bangladesh Medical University and Hospital, Dr. Sajjad Hossain Russell is with him.
Abu Hanif, a member of the Higher Council of the People’s Rights Council, told Ajker Patrika that Nurul Haque Nur has sought prayers from the countrymen for his speedy recovery.
Abu Hanif said, “We thank the government for the steps it has taken for better treatment, albeit belatedly. However, at the same time, we express concern that even 24 days after the attack, there has been no visible progress in taking punitive action against those involved in the incident. We strongly demand that the government bring those involved in such barbaric attacks to justice as soon as possible.’
On the evening of August 29, leaders and activists of the two parties clashed while a procession of the People’s Rights Council was passing in front of the Jatiya Party (JP) central office in Kakrail in the capital. After that, army and police members beat the leaders and activists of the party with sticks in front of the JP office. Nurul Haque Nur was seriously injured in this. In addition to being hit in the head by the stick, his nose was broken. Since that day, the leader of the People’s Rights Council has been receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
