UK, Canada and Australia officially recognize the state of Palestine

The United Kingdom, Canada and Australia have officially recognized Palestine as an independent state. These three countries recently presented their positions on Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly.

According to the British media outlet BBC, Canada became the first G-7 country to recognize Palestine. After that, Australia and the United Kingdom recognized Palestine as an independent state.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said in a statement on social media X that Canada is recognizing the state of Palestine and is offering its partnership to build a peaceful future for both the Palestinians and the Israelis.

After Canada, Australia has also recognized Palestine as an independent state. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described the move as a joint effort with Canada and the United Kingdom. He said that it is ‘part of the international effort for a two-state solution’.

Finally, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer gave a video message recognizing the state of Palestine in a video. In the video message, Starmer said, “As Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, I am announcing that from today the United Kingdom is formally recognising the state of Palestine, reaffirming my hope for a peaceful and two-state solution between Palestine and Israel.”
