Police have recovered the body of a child wrapped in a sack from a pile of garbage in Tejkunipara, Tejgaon, in the capital. The child had injury marks on her neck. The body was recovered on Tuesday morning.
The child’s name is Roja Moni (5). She is the daughter of Noor-e-Alam, an expatriate from Monirampur village in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi. She was the sixth among five sisters and two brothers.
Roja Moni had been missing since Monday. She lived with her family in a rented house in Tejkunipara in the capital.
On Tuesday, around 11 am, local people saw a sack lying in a pile of garbage under the Bijoy Sarani flyover. When the matter was reported to Tejgaon police station, they went to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.
Tejgaon Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Abdul Quader said that there are blister-like marks on the left side of the chest and injury marks on the side of the neck. Initially, it is believed to be a murder. The real reason will be known after receiving the autopsy report.
Local people said that Roja Moni had been missing since yesterday afternoon. Unable to find her, the family also miked.
Meanwhile, after the child’s body was recovered, local residents protested by blocking the road from Bijoy Sarani to Satrasta.
Police handed over the body to the family after the autopsy in the afternoon. A murder case is under process in this incident.
